On the north bank of the River Thames in an area called Embankment, the Playhouse theatre is just a stone’s throw away from legendary tourist attractions like the London Eye and Buckingham Palace. There's also a whole load of brilliant bars, clubs, restaurants and hotels along the Strand, just a stroll away. The area is well connected by public transport, although parking is a bit tricky.
The Playhouse is in the city's Congestion Charge Zone, active between 7am to 6pm weekdays, except bank holidays. Driving in the area costs £10 a day during those times.
The venue is in the Q-Park Scheme, which means getting your parking ticket validated at the theatre nets you 50% off parking charges. Bargain! The closest participating car park is the Q Park near Charing Cross station in Spring Gardens (SW1A 2TS). Parking costs £18 for up to 3hrs and £24 for 4hrs, 50% less if you have your validated at the theatre.
